Wild Adventures Announces Water Park Expansion

2011 will see a significant expansion to the Splash Island water park at Wild Adventures Water & Theme Park, located in Valdosta, GA. Splash Island will receive $4 million worth of work during the offseason, and debut two new family water slides next year.

The slides will accommodate 3 to 5 guests in family size tubes, and exclusive new VIP cabanas will be available to rent next season. The park promises more details on the water park expansion soon.

Wild Adventures will also continue their series of big-name concert acts next year. The line-up will be announced later this fall, but the concert series will feature at least 20 leading acts in 2011.

With next year's expansion, Herschend Family Entertainment will have spent over $10 million on the property since 2007.

Very cool, and I think a smart decision from a business standpoint. I wouldn't be surprised to see more and more investments going to the waterpark. Wouldn't terribly surprise me if the water park starts taking over some theme park real estate at some point. With the longest possible water park season in the Herschend chain due to the absolutely unbearable humid So. Ga./No. Fla. weather, it's a no brainer.

Perhaps even more exciting than the announcement itself is the fact that this is the first time I can recall WA receiving new investments back to back to back years! That's great news if this is the new standard.
