Diabolik Construction Reaches Final Stages

Italy's Movieland has nearly completed construction of Diabolik, formerly known as Two Face: The Flip Side at Six Flags America.  Above we see cranes placing the ride's giant logo sign atop the highest support.  That's a pretty smart place to put a sign, I'm surprise no other Vekoma Invertigo owners have done this.  At least not that I've seen.

A few days later the park was adding the final lift hill segments of track.  I'm sure by now the entire structure is complete.  The photos from the park's official blog have been constant, covering each new section of the coaster as it went up - it is nice to see a park detail a ride's construction so thoroughly.

One other gem that was posted to the park's blog is this aerial view of the property with Diabolik added to it.  I had made reference in an earlier post about how it was weird that the coaster was going up in the water park.  Granted for all I know all those trees between the cobra roll and the theme park's entrance could already be gone, joining the ride to the park.  I guess we will see when it opens!

Two Face: The Flip Side Lives Once More in Italy

It might have taken eight or so years, but Two Face: The Flip Side, a Vekoma Inverted Boomerang (Invertigo) roller coaster, will operate once again in 2015.  Movieland Park in Italy is currently building the ride, which has been named Diabolik Invertigo.

The coaster has received a very royal blue paint job, both the track and the supports are now the same color.  The ride appears to be heading through the support structure of one of the adjacent water park's slides, about where the station should be.

Here you can see the cobra roll with the vertical loop just starting to be lifted into place.  The slide support structure can be seen on the right, with the track heading down under it.

This photo, which was just posted today on the park's blog, shows the track heading into the station/slide support structure and the now completed vertical loop.  I haven't been to the park, but it is interesting that they're building the coaster in the water park next door, at least when looking at aerial maps of the park.  Maybe they're doing an expansion to connect the two or something?

Either way, the park will now have one of only 4 operating Invertigos in the world... that counts for something, right!?

Aerial Antics: Hunting Down Two Face: The Flip Side

Yes!  He actually found aerial images of the pieces of Two Face sitting in a shipyard, waiting their journey across the sea.  In my opinion Chris must be one of the most patient people on Earth to have found this, and for that I thank him.

Two Face, a Vekoma Invertigo (inverted boomerang) coaster was shipped to Italy, where it is scheduled to reopen at Movieland Park in 2015 as Diabolik Invertigo.  Two Face: The Flip Side operated at Six Flags America in Maryland from 1999 until 2007.  It spent the next seven or so years sitting around in pieces, until a buyer was finally found.
