Wild Rivers Irvine Lives On!

Wild Rivers is the water park that won't die. But that's a great thing! The park, located in Irvine, CA, originally was set to close forever at the end of the 2007 season, as reported on here at NPN.

Well, they got an extension of their lease with the city and were able to operate this past year. Now they've again received an extended lease, but this time through the end of 2010. That means at least two more summers for the water park.

The land the park sits on is slated to be turned into a housing development, but with the current economy and flatter than flat housing market - well that's not happening any time soon.

The park also celebrated the news by announcing that they will actually add a new attraction this summer, Buccaneer Bay. This will be an interactive play area themed to pirates and should open sometime in June. Great news!

Thanks for reporting on Wild Rivers lease extension. You may also be interested to know that there is a “Save Wild Rivers” group on Face Book which was started and is being run by fans, not the park.

There is also an “Official Wild Rivers” Fan page where we will be posting coupons and having contests for free tickets all summer.
