Idlewild Expands Its Family Friendly Line-up

Idlewild in Ligonier, PA will welcome two new attractions in 2009, both of which are aimed at the younger set but sure to please the entire family. Back in March, Idlewild announced that it will be adding a tea cup ride called "Tea Party" in the Racoon Lagoon section of the park. Racoon Lagoon is a massive children's area covering more than nine acres, and the addition of Tea Party will bring its pint-sized ride tally to 14. Personally I think this particular ride was a great choice, as it will complement the existing collection of rides very nicely.

But wait, there's more!

Just this week, Idlewild announced yet another new attraction for 2009: Safari Hut. As depicted in the artist rendering above, Safari Hut will be a tree-themed play structure. What may not be obvious from this rendering is that it will incorporate an actual Eucalyptus tree trunk! The structure will feature two spiral slides, an observation deck, and a passageway that cuts right through the eight foot wide trunk. Safari Hut will join the many other play structures and attractions that comprise the Jumpin' Jungle area of the park. It's so rare to find ball crawls, rope climbs, and swinging bridges at parks these days, but Jumpin' Jungle has all that and much, much more. Looks like a heck of a lot of fun to this big kid!
