Vertical Construction Begins on Knoebels' Impulse Coaster

It may be below freezing outside in Elsyburg, Pennsylvania this time of year but that hasn't stopped Knoebels from starting the exciting construction phase for their new for 2015 roller coaster, Impulse.  With concrete footings now complete, the park has started the task of assembling the track and supports of the vertical lift/drop Zierer coaster.  The neon yellow supports started going up early last quick, and the park showed they could make quick progress.

Knoebels started by placing several low to the ground supports, like the ones in the above photo.  This looks like it will be a part of one of Impulse's helices, there are several of these during the twisted layout including the finale of the experience.

By the end of the week the park had placed many more supports, and even started to put track in place.  Now we were really able to get a feel for the ride's progress, especially in this photo.  I believe this would be the entry and exit to Impulse's Cobra Roll, a double-inversion element that takes place immediately after the 98 foot vertical first drop (entry to the element will be on the left, exit on the right).

I love the color choice the park went with for Impulse - this is sure to stand out and make quite an impression as guests enter the park on Knoebels Parkway.  Impulse will stand directly in front of them as they make their way to the main parking lot.  No doubt that this will have many visitors making a beeline for the coaster to start their day.  I know I will!

Keep up with Knoebels' Impulse construction on their Twitter, Facebook, and webpage.  It looks like the ride will be going up fast!
