Apocalypse Now, Er, May 25th

© Six Flags America

The Apocalypse is coming to Six Flags America, but no one seems worried.  The new ride doesn't mean anything bad, in fact it's a very positive step for the park, which hasn't seen a large new thrill ride in a number of years.

The coaster itself was recently completed at the park.  I believe the supports still need to be painted black, but structurally things have been wrapped up.  Also, the park has saved the mountain that the flume ride used to drop through, only they've closed up the opening and made it look even more menacing.

The park is on track for a May 25th opening of Apocalypse, but until then you can check out this gallery of shots from the park's opening day.
