A Giant Falls

The demolition work on Six Flags Over Texas' Texas Giant wooden roller coaster started today with a ceremony at the theme park. The Star-Telegram has a nice video of the first section of supports coming down, available here.

The ride will be closed for the 2010 season, and when it reopens in 2011 it will be "steeper, faster, and loaded with special effects" says park President Steve Martindale. Also revealed is that most of the ride's structure will remain in place, and they estimate about 15% of the ride's configuration will be changed.
