Aloha Disney!

Disney announced that they have spent $144 million to purchase 21 acres of land on the western side of Oahu, Hawaii.

The land will hold a 800 room family resort. The article from CNN Money states that the land is near the current J.W. Marriot Ihilani Resort and Spa. That is circled in the above image. You can see that the oceanfront land in this area is totally prepped for more resorts. I'm sure one of those open spaces is the Disney property.

The resort should open in 2011. There are no plans for a theme park, but I think we'll all be very interested to see what they do here. There's been so much talk of the company wanting to add resorts all over that would have themed hotels and perhaps a ride/attraction or two.

Here's the full article from CNN Money.
