This article from the Tennessean about Herschend Family Entertainment makes for some great Sunday reading. The company is known in our circles for great theme parks such as Dollywood and Silver Dollar City, but they actually operate resorts, aquariums, and water parks among others.
They're also half of the partnership that makes up the new snow and water park being planned for Nashville. Phase one of the project will include a full snow park for the winter, and a detailed water park for the Summer. The possible addition of rides and other attractions looms large, but are a bit dependent on the success of the first phase.
Whether we see a sort of rebirth of Opryland down the line or not, the development in Nashville is sure to be of the highest caliber, if the company's other parks are any indication.
