S&S - Sansei Reveal Spin Shot Tower Retrofit for Existing Tower Rides

Parks with existing S&S tower rides have a new option on the table for thrilling their guests, as S&S - Sansei Technologies has debuted the new Spin Shot Tower attraction concept.  The company has created a design that will allowed their 4D Free Spin coaster seats to be installed on existing tower rides, which then can be blasted up and down while fully rotating.

According to S&S, the ride profile (how many times riders invert, etc) can be programmed differently for each park.  That allows a full spectrum of mild to really wild, featuring face-up, face-down and even upside down experiences during the ride.  The spinning is mechanically controller and endlessly customizable.

The attraction has been designed with these tough times in mind.  To help parks with limited budgets the retrofit of an existing S&S tower can be done modestly, at least compared to a brand new ride or roller coaster.  Executive Director of Sales & Marketing, Josh Hays said, “Our CEO, Tim Timco, challenged us to develop an exciting attraction that parks could offer their customers at a modest budget. We believe our talented engineering team has met that goal. Parks want to offer their guests new and exciting experiences every year. That is a difficult task right now, but we believe our new Spin Shot Tower will allow parks with existing tower rides to reward their guests with a thrilling experience that doesn’t break the bank.”

Scott And Carol Present - Huge News for Dutch Wonderland

It's very rare when a small park makes a big announcement, but when a kiddie park announces the inaugural installation of the new family inverted roller coaster it's huge. The very first  family inverted roller coaster from S & S -Sansei will open next year at Dutch Wonderland.

Merlin's Mayhem will be roaring around the ski lift and train, hopefully on opening day 2017. Featuring a good storyline about Mayhem, Merlin's friendly dragon, can't help getting himself into all sorts of predicaments as he learns to control his "fire-breathing" skills and learns to fly.

Doesn't that look like fun? In this day and age, many parks have to remove a classic attraction to add something new, but not at Dutch Wonderland. The Sunoco Turnpike attraction was just relocated to make room for Merlin's Mayhem, so there will be more to do at the park next year.

Joe, from Ride Centerline, talked about his background and how he worked with Dutch Wonderland to integrate their requirements into the new ride and how guests will interact with existing attractions while riding the coaster. it sounds like a tough job to satisfy all the requirements.

Remember this is the first installation of its kind, so we received more information from Matt, of S &S -Sansei about all the different consideration they worked through while designing this new train. We wouldn't usually post this video due to the camera focus malfunctioning, but we consider the educational benefit worthwhile as you listen to the discussion. They really put a lot of work into designing this new train.

Scott And Carol Present - What's New At S&S - Sansei Technologies

S & S Worldwide, along with Playland Castaway Cove, were eager to share their plans to change the skyline of Ocean City, New Jersey.

This is when everyone started to ooh and ah at the new ride vehicle.

This car/train, represents a combination of the best points of S & S's developed technology to date, with improved seating, better restraints, and now a launch system. With launches, the lines move quicker because most of the ride time is actually spent climbing the lift hill on traditional coaster.

Here is the track layout, and you need to remember there are three launches on the ride.

Preston, who we met at the Batman opening at Six Flags Fiesta Texas, explains the high points of "Gale Force," opening next season at Playland Castaway Cove.

This is a close up of the double stator LSM motor that launches the car, forwards into a rollback, backwards up the hill, and finally forwards again to traverse the course.
