Morey's Piers Reopens The Great Nor'Easter After Completing Major Renovation

After spending the winter months completely renovating the coaster, Morey's Piers has reopened The Great Nor'Easter to visitors.  The famous seaside amusement operator spent more than $5 million to have all new track - 62 pieces in total - manufactured for the coaster.  The goal was to make the ride smoother than ever before, while also increasing the top speed slightly.  The ride also received a new paint job featuring an assortment of blue colors on the supports and brilliant white track.

To celebrate the reopening of the coaster, Morey's Piers created a marketing promotion to prove just how smooth the new experience is, inviting grandmothers to come take a spin.  This video, from Do The Shore, shows a bit of the ride's opening ceremony and those grandmothers taking their first ride.

The Great Nor'Easter opened in 1995 and was one of the first few models of Vekoma's Suspended Looping Coaster.  Morey's has made efforts over the years to improve the ride experience, including purchasing new trains with more comfortable restraints, but the total track replacement is their boldest effort yet.

Hopefully some of our readers will be able to ride the latest version of the coaster this summer and see just how the improvements turned out!
