A Blast From The Past - Kings Island circa 1971

Way back when (June 25th) when we posted the very first "Blast From The Past," we visited Kings Island during the construction of International Street. The photo was taken from the area where the Eiffel Tower was being constructed. This week we're turning around and taking a look at the tower's construction. This photo was taken in May of 1971 and while the crew had a good start, there was still a long way to go.

The tower has always been a Kings Island centerpiece, at 331 feet, 6 inches, it is a 1/3 scale replica of the Eiffel Tower in Paris France. Manufactured by Intamin and built in house, the tower has taken more than 34,000,00 guests to either of the two observation platforms, for a bird's eye view of the park. Editor's note: The tower is one of my favorite places to take photos of the park, Many Diamondback construction photos were taken from the tower. And, it's still a great spot for Diamondback photos as well as the rest of the park.
