Holiday World Confirms Major Ride Removal

In a post on the Holiblog, Holiday World & Splashin' Safari confirmed the removal of the park's giant splash ride, Giraffica.

Created for the park by Intamin and originally known as Pilgrims Plunge, the ride was the tallest water ride in the U.S.  It featured a vertical lift that took boats to the top of the 131 foot drop, after which a maximum speed of 50 miles per hour was obtained.  It originally opened in 2009, meaning it had 5 operating seasons as the park.

The post on the Holiblog indicates that the ride was closed more than they would have liked, and unofficial reports name everything from the boats to the complicated vertical lift as maintenance nightmares.  The ride originally was a part of Thanksgiving before being 'moved' into Splashin' Safari prior to last season.

The new park map still shows the ride's elaborate boarding station in place, perhaps to be reused in the future for a new attraction? From the hints in the park's official post it sounds like another development will soon come to the Thanksgiving section, giving fans of the park something to look forward to.
