Zippin Pippin Plans Coming Together

The city of Green Bay has signed a nearly $2 million contract with Martin & Vleminckx Rides to oversee the design and construction of the new version of the Zippin Pippin roller coaster. "Under its contract, Martin & Vleminckx will provide engineering and design work, acquire all lumber and other raw materials, fabricate the wooden coaster frame, and supervise all construction."

The company also helped the city purchase many key mechanical parts for the new ride from the closed Thunder Eagle coaster. M & V were originally involved in the construction of Thunder Eagle, so they were able to attest to their quality. Buying used items will help save a significant amount of money for the city.

Right now the plans are to have the new Zippin Pippin open in May 2011.
