La Ronde 2010: Ednör L'Attaque

La Ronde has finally named their new attraction for 2010, "Ednör L'Attaque," or Ednor: Attack in English. As expected, the SLC coaster will be themed to a sea monster named Ednor, which has been terrorizing workers during the ride's construction.

The $10 million attraction will receive a full theme treatment as well, according to a press release. It's translated from French so it's not perfect, but it describes that riders "pass through a center of interpretation of the phenomenon of sea monsters, special effects, inspired by the "presence" of the new resident of Lake Dolphins, the creature Ednor. We then learn more about Ednor well as other mythical creatures such as Nessie, Champ, and Memphré Ponik."

Aside from the fact that Ednör is Ronde backwards, the release says "Ednor is the name of the sea monster, which according to legend, the Vikings fought off the coast of Newfoundland around the year 1000."

The ride, half of which takes place over the water, will open to the public on May 22nd.
