California's Great America Expands Planet Snoopy, Adds 3 New Rides

California's Great America will expand their current Planet Snoopy children's area in 2015, adding three new rides and retiring the KidZville theme in the process.  The park just made the announcement today, though not many additional details were revealed.

The park's current Planet Snoopy is actually rather tiny, and replaced the Nickelodeon themed area when Cedar Fair purchased the park.  It currently is home to four rides, a character meet'n'greet and a water maze type attraction.

The neighboring KidZville area is filled with considerably more rides, all with a general kids area theme.

The park's current children's areas.
The expansion will see KidZville become a part of Planet Snoopy, which means that there will be a great deal of retheming on those existing rides.  When completed the area will be much larger and cohesive, matching what has been created at most other Cedar Fair parks.

As mentioned earlier, three new rides will also join the lineup, though it is not clear if they will replace any existing ones.  The rides will be Gr8Sk8, the Peanuts 500, and Snoopy's Space Buggies - all of which sound like the rides that were removed from Knott's Berry Farm's Camp Snoopy when they expanded earlier this year (though not confirmed by the park).

With the great success of Gold Striker in '13, and the new Great American Pavilion this year and now more new capital in '15 it is great to see the park back on track!
