October 2010 NPN Poll Results
A bit of a 'hot button' issue in our little community recently is whether or not we should all be concerned with trying to save classic wooden roller coasters by moving them, rebuilding them, and seeing them operate once again.
There are many different sides to these efforts and the specifics of each scenario make no situation the same; still I wanted to see what you guys think of the whole thing. Clearly, you're pretty divided between being full on supports of the efforts and finding them a nice idea, but unrealistic.
With plans currently in place to try to save several rides, and with fund raising even underway, I'm sure we haven't seen the end of this debate. Conneaut's Blue Streak stands as the most recent success story - but many would question for how long that success will last.
The Zippin Pippin is another example of a 'saved' ride, though almost none of the ride will be original when it opens, so it almost will stand as a 'tribute' coaster more than anything else. Many other rides have been relocated in the past, as Scott and Carol's current series of Blast From The Past's show, but with costs, insurance polices, safety, and other requirements constantly changing, how many more will we see happen?
I don't know. But look for a much more lighthearted Poll for this month over on the left!
