Buh-Bye, Chang
How ironic that Scott and Carol chose to feature Chang in a recent Blast from the Past segment, as it is about to become a blast from Kentucky Kingdom's past as well. The rumors have been circulating for a while, but local news station WLKY has now produced evidence that the blockbuster B&M stand-up coaster is in the process of being dismantled and removed from the park to make way for "the largest water park expansion in Kentucky Kingdom's history".
I'll admit that I was a bit shocked to find out this particular rumor was true, but I'm giving Six Flags the benefit of the doubt until we find out exactly what they have up their sleeves. Over the past couple years, evidence has been mounting that Kentucky Kingdom is shifting its focus from theme park to water park. Perhaps this is the first move toward a full-scale conversion; we'll simply have to wait and see.
While Chang's future home has yet to be revealed, the article states that it will be "given" to another park, which indicates that it will remain within the Six Flags family. I guess the bluegrass is always greener on the other side of Kentucky. But hey, Six Flags? One itsy bitsy little request from the peanut gallery here: An original name? PLEASE?
