Sabrina's Brochure Spotlight: Casino Pier 2006
When it comes to seaside parks, New Jersey is a gold mine. While Wildwood may be the only Jersey beach that's become a household name among enthusiasts, this state harbors many more seaside towns which boast amusement parks. This week we'll take a peek at one of them: Casino Pier in Seaside Heights.
Let's flip the calendar back a few years to 2006, when Casino Pier apparently had "thrilling new rides". While multiple searches on exactly what may have been "new" this year turned up nothing, I'm even more puzzled by the fact that the park's 2007 addition somehow showed up in this brochure!
But before we get to that, I wanted to mention the antique carousel advertised on the cover. Casino Pier's historic Dr. Floyd L. Moreland Carousel dates back to around 1910 and features wooden figures carved by some of the masters of the industry. It has been operating at Casino Pier since 1932 and is a tremendous source of pride for the park.
So going back to the future (since I can't seem to make it through one of these posts without some lame attempt at cheesy humor), check out the ride labeled "Pirate's Hideaway" on the lower right-hand side of this park map. That partially enclosed coaster did not make its debut until the following year! It seems there's a bit of voodoo going on with this brochure...
Regardless, I'm glad they included this map because it illustrates the wide variety of rides and attractions available at the park. In addition to the standard boardwalk kiddie fare, Casino Pier offers many options for adults, including two Mack coasters, a log flume, a haunted house, a Disk'O, and even a mirror maze! I daresay this collection of rides holds more appeal for me than what can be found at many larger parks.
Casino Pier is located just blocks from nearby Funtown Pier, which makes its home in Seaside Park, NJ. That's a one-two punch of classic amusement pier goodness! I'd say both are worth a stop if you find yourself "down the [Jersey] shore" one of these summers.

Now I want a corn dog.
The Jet Star right there on the edge of the pier makes for a very fun ride.
I bet! I've heard those hairpin turns are pretty wicked. I hope to find out for myself someday!
