New Fireman's Landing Themed Area Coming to Silver Dollar City in 2015

Silver Dollar City will open Fireman's Landing in 2015, an $8 million new themed area that includes six new rides and four new attractions.

Fireman's Landing will be set in the 1800s, where the local firefighters are holding a volunteer fair. The expansion will "salute the spirit and training activities of community volunteer firefighters" and contain attractions for those ages 3 to 93.

To make room for Fireman's Landing, Silver Dollar City will expand into some previously undeveloped land that is behind Geyser Gulch, which closed for good on August 3rd.  The area will bring Silver Dollar City's number of rides and attractions up over 40, and make the park's total hourly ride capacity over 21,000.

Set in the back of the new area will be a large building, Fire Station #3.  Inside the building will be three different play areas:

• Firefighter’s Fire Drill, with buckets, pumpers, foam ball cannons and targets for showering mock fires
• Firefighter’s Fire Escape, an obstacle course of tubes, mazes, climbing structures and slides
• Firefighter’s Junior Fire Escape, a soft play area for toddlers

Attached to the Fire Station on the right will be the area's most thrilling ride, FireFall.  The ride features an 8-story drop, and is an S&S double shot tower that was relocated from Celebration City.

Other new family oriented rides include Fire Spotter, a soaring balloon ride, Fire Wagon Frenzy, a wagon that rotates up and around, and Up The Ladder, a smaller free fall bounce ride.  Smaller children's rides in the area will be Roundabout, a ride on some friendly Dalmatians, and Fireman's Flyers, a low to the ground swing ride.

This video shows off more of the attractions coming to Fireman's Landing.  Overall it looks like a worthy replacement for Geyser Gulch, one that will entertain families for hours next year.

Silver Dollar City also announced that the Harlem Globetrotters will perform at the park in 2015 during a six week extended run.  The group's amazing skills will be on display three times a day in 30 minute performances, showcasing highlights of the team's touring show.

“We know that families want adventures and activities they can experience together. With our new, unique Fireman’s Landing area and the global popularity of the Harlem Globetrotters, 2015 will be Silver Dollar City’s biggest family year ever,” said Silver Dollar City General Manager Brad Thomas.
