Quassy Announces First Rider Auction For Wooden Warrior

Quassy Amusement Park will auction off the first 12 seats of the first train of their new Wooden Warrior coaster, officials have announced.  The money raised from the auction will benefit the Connecticut Food Bank, Make-A-Wish Connecticut Chapter, and Connecticut Public Television.

Winners will gather at the park on April 23rd to be the first public riders of the new Gravity Group designed wooden roller coaster.  After the top 12 bidders ride, the park will let the remaining bidders - in bid order of course - take a spin, up to the first 200 bids.  After that the ride will open to the general public.

To place a bid, send a check or money order made payable to Quassy Amusement Park, postmarked no later than Feb. 15, 2011 to: First To Ride, PO Box 887, Middlebury, CT 06762.  Each person will only make one bid, and no leaderboard will be presented to re-bid a higher amount. Include the full name, address as well as an e-mail address of the bidder - or the person being designated as a first rider - on a separate sheet of paper.  The park will notify winning bidders via e-mail.

The full rules of the contest are available on Quassy's website.

The new coaster will celebrate the opening of the park's 103rd season of operations.  The coaster is part of a multi-year investment program, which began last season with the addition of the Free Fall 'N family drop tower attraction.
