Throughout the month of June, Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom will be celebrating Lemonade Days, a series of events that will help raise money for Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation. The foundation was formed to help fight childhood cancer in 2005, and to date has raised over $100 million toward the cause.
Visitors to the park will not only be able to partake in fresh squeezed lemonade with proceeds going to the foundation, but also a portion of online park ticket purchases June 1st through June 28th will also be donated.
Several special fundraising events will also take place this month, all of which will benefit the campaign to end childhood cancer.
Next up on June 20-21 is the BBQ & Brew, a sampling event held over Father's Day weekend. Held in Carousel Grove from two to seven p.m., guests can get their fill of various tastings of both BBQ and seasonal brews, park admission and a souvenir mug. Tickets can be purchased online and a portion of those sales will go to the foundation.
Finally, on June 27-28, the Ribs 'n' Rides BBQ Festival will feature "competitive barbeque teams from around the region" competing in a Kansas City Barbeque Society sanctioned contest. Teams will make their very best chicken, ribs, brisket and pork for a chance at part of $13,500 in prizes being awarded at the event. The teams will also make a creative Lemon themed dessert to honor Alex's efforts.
It's wonderful to see a charity fundraising effort weaved into several other new special events at Dorney Park this year - I can't wait to check this out. Head over to Dorney Park's Lemonade Days website to learn more or purchase tickets.
