April 2015 NewsPlusNotes Poll Results

April's NewsPlusNotes poll asked our readers which was their favorite Giga Roller Coaster, now that we have a new entry to the category for 2015.

While the new contender fared pretty well, it still wasn't enough to beat out Millennium Force at Cedar Point.  The Intamin coaster, which opened in 2000 gathered over 41% of the total votes to have it land in first place.  The ride has been around the longest, and probably has given more rides than any other one listed this month - and is still regarded as the king as we now see!

Second place went to Intimidator 305, which opened at Kings Dominion in 2010, with 27% of the vote.  Another Intamin design, Intimidator 305 relies on close-to-the-ground curves taken at extreme speeds, the opposite of Millennium Force's giant rolling hills and turns.

Third place went to that new ride I mentioned earlier, Fury 325 at Carowinds, with 21%.  The B&M design is still being experienced by new riders each day, so perhaps it would have had a bit more response if I had done this poll at the end of the season.
Our fourth place finisher was another B&M, Leviathan at Canada's Wonderland.  The fifth and final spot went to Steel Dragon 2000 in Japan, our only international listing.

This month we will look at what's new for 2015 in Europe.  Check it out on the left!
