Canada's Wonderland 2012: Say 'Hello' to Leviathan

New at Canada's Wonderland in 2012, Leviathan will take over as not only the tallest coaster in Canada, but at 306' feet, it will also be manufacturer B&M's tallest coaster in their entire portfolio. Reaching speeds of 92 miles-per-hour, the 5,486' foot-long sea monster should prove to be quite a thrill for the mostly-mild Medieval Faire section of the park.

The projected cost of the project is $28 million, about three million more than Intimidator 305 and Millennium Force, the company's other two Gigacoasters (over 300 feet tall). Of course, Leviathan is also using 4-across seating, a first for coasters over 300 feet. Interestingly, this ride abandons Cedar Fair's use of tiered seating (found on Diamondback, Carowind's Intimidator, and the park's own Behemoth) to revert back to the standard B&M Hypercoaster train design.

In true Cedar Fair fashion, there's already a mini site up with more info, videos, and renderings. Can't wait to ride this one.

As a comparison: that 1999 $25m would be more than $32m today ;)

This looks like a really great ride, and it pushes Canadas Wonderland higher up my list of parks to visit!

You say that it is B&M, which it is, and then you mention that I-305 and MF are the company's other two gigacoasters. I-305 and MF are Intamin coasters, not B&M.

When he said "the company" he meant Cedar Fair, not B&M.

Yeah. And I305's $25 mil was just last year. Of course, it's a shorter ride than Millennium Force, but for $3 mil more...
