Ride The American Eagle - Backwards
Six Flags Great America made their big announcement today, and they're pleased to let everyone know that the American Eagle will be running it's blue train backwards from August 8th until September 17th.
The famous racing coaster, which opened 30 years ago in 1981 is being celebrated this year at the park for reaching that milestone. It has previously run one train backwards, but has had both trains facing forward for several years.
The America Eagle features an impressive 147 foot first drop, the longest in the world when it opened, which dips 20 feet below grade. The racing trains hit 66 miles per hour during the 4,650 foot long journey.
