Drop of Doom VR Coming to Six Flags Over Georgia

A brand new virtual reality experience, named Drop of Doom VR, is set to open at Six Flags Over Georgia soon for a limited fun.  According to the theme park the attraction will be the first permanent drop tower virtual reality ride in North America.

The new attraction will involve giant, mutant spiders, certain to play on the fears of many guests - myself included!

Drop of Doom VR will open at Six Flags Over Georgia on March 11th, as part of their 50th anniversary celebration.  Riders will wear Samsung Gear VR powered by Oculus headsets as they start their ride, where they are piloting a "futuristic gunship."  The attraction will include:

• A high speed virtual vertical ascent up 100 stories, while teetering off the edge of a helicopter.
• A 360-degree rotating view high above massive city skyscrapers that are under siege by enormous spiders;
• A high-intensity gun battle against a giant arachnid, spewing baby spiders that virtually crawl all over the rider’s body;
• A thrilling virtual 100-story fiery plunge straight down between towering skyscrapers; and the final showdown with a spider the size of a van, teeth-gnashing and in full attack mode.

The attraction will take place on Acrophobia, a 200 foot tall stand-up gyro tower free fall ride that opened at the park in 2001.  Drop of Doom VR is free with admission to the park but will have a limited run... no ending date has been announced yet.
