Idlewild Building Family Wave Pool for 2011
Idlewild's Soak Zone will see a significant expansion in 2011 when they park builds a family wave pool. The multi-million dollar attraction will replace the park's swimming pool, which first opened in 1931.
The wave pool will hold over 280,000 gallons of water, and will be 182 feet long. It will start with a zero depth entry, and reach a maximum depth of 6 feet. The waves will be kept at a level that will be thrilling, while still allowing families to enjoy the attraction together.
The addition will also feature a beach area that will have lounges for guests, and cabanas that will be available for renting.
Idlewild and Soak Zone was named the best children's park in the 2010 Amusement Today golden ticket awards. Soak Zone is a very popular part of the park, and I'm sure the new wave pool will help handle the crowds with ease. This is an extremely smart addition to the park!
