November Poll Results

With the poll for November now closed, I need to make an apology. I totally forgot Montezooma's Revenge when I created this poll! Sure, it's not launched with magnets, LSMs, LIMs, or anything else fancy, but it is launched! My sincerest apologies to the ride.

Now, as for the results, let's take a closer look at how the total of 336 votes played out:

34%, 117 Votes: Maverick, Cedar Point - An overwhelming #1 in the poll, I can't say I'm surprised. The ride, as most Cedar Point rides do, generated a ton of excitement and press last winter - and being at such a popular park means lots of readers had the chance to try it out. I haven't taken a spin, but it does look like an all-around fun ride.

22%, 75 Votes: Top Thrill Dragster, Cedar Point - Coming in a solid 2nd, Dragster still has its legions of fans. Sure, it may be a one-trick pony, but that launch is quite a trick. Like with Maverick, the exposure the ride gets being at Cedar Point probably helps the ride keep its popularity strong, too.

10%, 35 Votes: Steel Venom/Voodoo, Geauga Lake & Dorney Park - I have to say that the fact that I cover Dorney so much may have helped this one get ranked third... but that's okay. Given a new lease on life after Cedar Fair shuttered Geauga Lake, Voodoo is being highly anticipated for this coming summer. And remember, this was the first twisted Impulse coaster.

8%, 28 Votes: Xcelerator, Knott's Berry Farm - The 'prototype' for Dragster, Xcelerator's debut was toward the start of Knotts' big steel ride building trend. Trains themed as classic cars go screaming along the track, and up that top hat - remember when it was built? I could not believe it didn't have more supports!

7%, 25 Votes: Volcano The Blast Coaster, Kings Dominion - The 1st inverted launched coaster, and what a unique one at that. Carved out of the mountain that used to hold several attractions, the ride still has many fans. Having tried it this past summer, ten years after its debut, it's still a smooth and exciting ride.

5%, 19 Votes: Wicked Twister, Cedar Point - The title of the biggest of the impulse coasters is fitting for its location at the Point. I'm actually sorta surprised this one ranked as highly as it did in the poll. It never seemed to be one of Cedar Point's more popular rides, but that, of course, is simply my opinion.

4%, 14 Votes: Hypersonic XLC, Kings Dominion - The most intense launch I've ever experienced probably helped get this endangered ride into 7th place. Will it be there next year, or the one after? I'd ride it while you can.

Our last three rides didn't do so well in our poll. Italian Job was 8th (11 Votes), Flight of Fear 9th (8 Votes), and Valleyfair!'s Steel Venom came in last with only 4 votes.

December's poll should be up later today!
