Playland's Castaway Cove Getting Ready to Open GaleForce

© Playland's Castaway Cove
One of the most tightly compacted and uniquely designed coasters of the summer of 2016 has yet to open, and that's GaleForce at Playland's Castaway Cove in Ocean City, New Jersey.  The ride, which has been designed by S&S Worldwide, features a triple launch that blasts individual cars up to 125 feet above the boardwalk below.

GaleForce uses 12-seater cars that reach a top launch speed of 64 miles per hour, pretty quick for a ride with only 1,269 feet of track!  The coaster has some pretty wicked looking twists at the top of each of its hills, certainly not your run of the mill top hat elements.  The drop off the tallest element also features a beyond vertical 100 degree plunge, adding even more thrills to the ride.

Although the new coaster isn't set to open for a couple more weeks, CoasterForce was able to film a point of view ride on GaleForce.  Check it out below!

The amount of speed the car still has when it heads down the 100 degree drop makes me think there will be some extreme air-time to be found on GaleForce!  Check out an off-ride view of the coaster making a test run, also from CoasterForce, at this link.
