A bit of park news - CNL Lifestyle Properties has snatched up Wet 'n' Wild Phoenix in Arizona, adding to its ever-growing list of owned properties. These already include theme parks like Darien Lake and Elitch Gardens, and a great many water parks like Splashtown and White Water Bay.
The park, seen above, opened in 2009 and was built by Village Roadshow. Filled with colorful attractions, the park was sold to CNL for a reported $33 million. Also quite important for CNL - the purchase of the park also gives them the rights to the Wet 'n' Wild name in the U.S. They already own Wet 'n' Wild Hawaii... but with so many other water parks already owned one might assume some renaming could take place.
Speaking of Wet 'n Wild Hawaii, it was also just announced that Premier Parks LLC will take over operations of the park, replacing Village Roadshow. Premier Parks LLC, led by former Six Flags executive Kieran Burke, already owns or operates parks such a Clementon Park, Frontier City, and SplashTown Houston.
