Aquatica San Diego Racing into 2014 with Taumata Racer

Before completing the park's first season as Aquatica San Diego,  a new attraction has already been announced for the 2014 season.  Racing onto the property will be Taumata Racer, a 60 foot tall slide tower featuring six lanes of action.  The new slide tower will be located between Walhalla Wave and Kata's Kookaburra Cove on the northwest side of the park.

Riders will use a mat to slide head-first down through the starting helix and along 375 feet of slide, which includes several hills before the finish line.  The competitive racing nature of the attraction adds to the fun, and makes the experience very repeatable.

"We're thrilled to bring Taumata Racer to Aquatica," said David Cromwell, the waterpark's vice president. "This new mat-racer water slide is a unique blend of competitive racing and high-speed thrills. It will be a welcome addition to the park and certainly an experience that families and friends will be able to enjoy together. This is exactly the type of attraction that will make Aquatica an even more exciting waterpark."

Taumata Racer will have a 42 inch height requirement and is manufactured by Proslide.  The attraction is expected to start construction in November and be ready to open with the park on Memorial Day Weekend 2014.
