Worlds of Fun Removing Body Slides for New For 2020 Project

Something new is on its way to Worlds of Fun, specifically to Oceans of Fun, in 2020 it would seem.  Last week the park confirmed that their set of three body slides, together named Diamond Head, will be removed at the end of this season.

The slides, named Waikiki Wipeout, Maui WoWee, and Honolulu Lulu, are originals to the park when it opened back in 1982.  Pretty astounding that body slides have lasted 37 years to be honest!

Worlds of Fun is not cramped for space, so it comes as no surprise that the slides already have plenty of open land around them.  Seen above, the park has a lot of land to work with when it comes to a new slide or attraction in the water park.  The park's tease about the 2020 project said they will welcome a new "tide" next year, and while obviously about a water attraction it's a bit too vague to speculate much on the nature of the ride.  Major water park manufacturers offer a plethora of slide combinations these days, so we really could see a number of things replace Diamond Head.

While on the subject, it looks like several Cedar Fair parks will be making their 2020 capital announcements on the 15th of this month, so potentially not long to wait to find out about this new attraction.  We've also had Kings Island and Dorney Park confirm that they will release news on that day.  Hang tight!
