Hershey's Heading to Las Vegas

MGM Resorts has announced a major redevelopment of the areas in front of and in between the New York New York and Monte Carlo Resorts.  The changes will modify the facades of both buildings on street level, and one of the main features will be a two story flagship Hershey's store.

Sorry, no chocolate making dark ride included.

To open by the start of next year, the transformed area will also create a park-like atmosphere between the two resorts, a "first" for the Strip, developers say.

The project is pegged at $100 million and the park like area would eventually lead to a new events center that is proposed to sit behind and in the middle of both resorts.  Other tenants include Shake Shack, a burger stand, Double Barrel, a roadhouse restaurant, and the 800 Degrees Neapolitan Pizzeria.

The "Roller Coaster" at New York New York appears to be staying during the renovations.  I'm actually a bit surprised - the ride seems to have run its course, pun intended, and the direction Vegas is headed in is quite different than when the ride was built.

Check out this story on the expansions, which link to even more web pages for the individual resorts.
