Six Flags New England Closing Splashwater Falls Before Season End

This time of year is slowly becoming not only known for new ride announcements, but also for the reveal of rides that will be closing for good.  Adding to the list of attractions that we will say goodbye to in 2016 is Splashwater Falls at Six Flags New England, which will close after September 5th.

For those who aren't as aware of just what the ride is, the theme park has created a video that shows it off:

Splashwater Falls opened at Six Flags New England in 2006, and was moved to the park from Six Flags AstroWorld when it closed.  The ride is designed for families to enjoy together, and is a Spinning Rapids Ride, not many of which were ever built, but can still be purchased through WhiteWater's attractions division.

Riders are seated in individual rafts with higher walls than what you'd find on a traditional family water slide.  The layout features a giant helix at the start and ends with a gentle drop to a splash pool, and the rafts are designed to spin quite a bit throughout the entire course.

Splashwater Falls is located in the park's Southern portion, adjacent to the water park.  It is not totally clear right now if a 2017 addition will use the ride's plot of land, but it's heavily rumored that a certain kind of free-spinning, 4-Ding attraction will rise at the park next year.  It now sounds like Six Flights might make one giant announcement on September 1st after all, so stay tuned!
