From The Vault: Canobie Lake 1998 Brochure + Map

This week's brochure is from Canobie Lake Park, a small property that sits in Salem, New Hampshire.  Not surprisingly, the park is located along Lake Canobie and has a woodsy and peaceful setting.

This brochure and map are from 1998, when the park was in the middle of developing a section of lakefront property with a new ride and themed buildings.  And for those of you who are on the road to the park right now, there's a map for you!  I kid, I kid.

The people in these photos are certainly a bit dated looking, even for 1998.  Still, you can get a good idea of some of the atmosphere that Canobie Lake Park has from them.

And who doesn't love a little history?  We certainly do here at NewsPlusNotes, so take a gander at this section.  The park opened in 1902 as one of many trolley parks in the country.  You can read additional details in the panels above, but the park has grown over time yet managed to keep its charm.  I'm actually quite a fan of the park, which was detailed after my visit there last Summer.

Bam!  There's a lot going on in the big middle section!  Roller coasters, family rides, kiddie rides, a lady in a bathing suit, fireworks, huggable characters... the list goes on and on!  The park's wooden coaster, the Yankee Cannonball is shown a couple times, and rightfully so - it is a fun little ride.  The park also offers the Canobie Corkscrew, and a much more recent addition is Untamed.  There's tons of other great flat and water rides, too, and even a pretty silly dark ride that got high marks from me, mostly for effort.

The park had a nicely printed guide map that I wanted to include as well, you can click on the images to get a better view of things.  A decent amount of additions have gone in since this was done, but as I said earlier the park still has a peaceful and cozy feel to it.

Just don't stare at that photo of Bozo the clown saying "Wowee!" too much - I can't be held responsible for what may happen!
