Valleyfair has announced capital plans for the park's 2013 season that total $3.5 million, the focus of which will be the addition of a brand new Dinosaurs Alive! attraction.

Described as "a multi-sensory and interactive dinosaur park that will allow Guests to experience the sights and sounds of over 30 life-sized animated dinosaurs," the attraction will take up residence on a five acre plot of wooded land near the park's entrance.  Visitors will encounter seven different scenes along a 2,837 foot long walking path, each of which will show "what the dinosaurs ate, when and where they lived, how they protected themselves and adapted to their world."

The main star of Dinosaurs Alive! will be a 39 foot tall Ruyanogosaurus that stretches 72 feet long.  Guests will be able to control some of the dinosaur figures' movements, and a gift shop will let them take home their favorite dino themed souvenirs.  Admission to Dinosaurs Alive! will be $5 per guest.

Valleyfair will also build a new group catering facility on the former site of the park's miniature golf course.  The three acre expansion will better accommodate picnic groups with events at the park, as the former picnic area was actually outside the park's main gates.
