Weekly Rewind 9.10.11



To the sky!  That's where Europa Park's new GCI wooden coaster is headed.  Lots of progress has taken place on the ride in the past week, check out photos here.

The flood waters in Pennsylvania have gone down, but now the hard work of cleaning up starts.  Knoebels has posted several sets of the destruction the waters caused, as well as clean up efforts.

I missed this one when I was away, but AFE is considering selling both Alabama Adventure and Clementon Amusement Park.  Sounds like they aren't too happy with the performance of the parks.



Disney California Adventure has installed the top cupola on the Carthay Circle Theatre, and it looks great!

Cedar Point has officially closed the Paddlewheel Excursions river cruise to make way for some dinosaurs in 2012.  The last boat was driven by Dick Kinzel himself.

Speaking of Cedar Point, its parent company, Cedar Fair, is reporting good results again through Labor Day Weekend 2011.  Both attendance and revenues are up - a healthy sign for the industry we love.

Bali Waterpark has opened in China, and features a great selection of Whitewater West rides and slides.  Pictured on the right is a slide tower featuring their signature Family Boomerango and Abyss slides.

Six Flags Over Georgia will be celebrating their 45th anniversary by adding six new live entertainment productions for 2012.  They also have a buy three, get the 4th free season pass promotion for next year.

The demolition of Skull Mountain at Six Flags America is well underway, as seen in these recent photos.  The ride is being cleared so that Apocalypse, the park's new stand-up coaster, can be added for 2012.
