Busch Gardens Tampa Announces Iceploration Ice Show

Busch Gardens Tampa's Moroccan Palace theater will be the home of Iceploration, the park's elaborate new ice show being produced for the 2012 season.  Iceploration will actually bring ice shows back to the park, which has featured them in the Moroccan Palace over the years, including Hollywood Live on Ice and World Rhythms On Ice.

Most recently, the theater housed Cirque Dreams Jungle Fantasy, and before that KaTonga: Musical Tales From the Jungle, which closed in December of 2010.

Iceploration will feature a cast of 20 and use world-class skaters, amazing aerial performances, puppetry, and live animal stars to dazzle audiences.

"Iceploration inspires audiences to “explore the world” on a 30-minute journey to the four corners of the earth. This multi-sensory story, told through theatrical skating and an all-new original score, is the collaboration of an award-winning creative team with Broadway credentials, including Tony Award-winning costume designer Gregg Barnes (The Drowsy Chaperone, Best Costume Design Tony winner 2007; Legally Blonde the Musical, Best Costume Design Tony nominee 2007)."

The show chronicles Austin, a modern teen, and his world-explorer grandfather as they travel around the globe in order for Austin to see how disconnected younger generations are from the creatures and people of the world.  In their journey they stop in the African Serengeti, the Great Barrier Reef, the Arctic, and the Amazon Rainforest, all of which constitute major scenes of the 30 minute production.

A preview video of the show, which is set to open on February 2nd, 2012, has also been released:
