Universal Studios Japan's Special 10th Anniversary Celebration

Universal Studios Japan will celebrate its 10th anniversary next year by retheming an entire land, and creating a massive series of special events and entertainment.

The tag-line of the celebration will be "happy surprises beyond your expectation and imagination," which is just perfect for a Japanese park!  The special celebration will run from March 3rd, 2011 until April 8, 2012.

The celebration will feature characters and entertainers presenting guests with unexpected surprises throughout the whole park.  Some of the unique encounters include song and dance staring suddenly out of nowhere, a dinosaur suddenly creeping up on guests, and optical illusion artwork located around the property.

In order to present all the entertainment and activities, the park's Land of Oz section will be retired and rethemed.  That means the Wicked stage show, Toto & Friends and the Magical Oz-Go-Round will be retired or rethemed.

The main production of the 10th anniversary celebration will be Dreams Are Universal, an outdoor show that will be the largest in the history of the park.

The stage for the production will be located in the New York area, and the show will feature Snoopy, Hello Kitty, Elmo, and 90 other performers as they tell the heart warming story of a family's dream coming true.

The event will also incorporate seasonal programs as well, including Summer, Halloween, and Christmas.  The park promises even more details about the event in the future as plans are made concrete.

I am very sad to hear that they are retiring the Land of Oz section. I thought that was the coolest part of the park. Does anyone know what will replace this?

But the surprises and unique encounters will keep the guest coming back for sure. That sounds like a good time to me!
