Book Review: Knott's Preserved

Knott's Preserved, written by Christopher Merritt and published in 2010, is a perfect example of how a book should chronicle the history of a great theme park.  At least that's my opinion.

Packed with original photos, drawings, maps, and concept art, the 160 page look back at the history of Knott's Berry Farm was a treasure trove of information about the park.  One of America's oldest theme parks, Knott's is more than deserving of having its history detailed like this.  Many guests visiting today to partake in the arsenal of thrill rides probably have no idea that such a detailed history exists.

Honestly, I knew of the park's beginnings but had no idea how much history there was.  I especially appreciate the art and details provided about the park's growth in the 70s and 80s, the time when the park really blossomed into a major league theme park.  There are also gems like concept art and information on the never built, but planned, North Woods Fur Trapper jungle-cruise-style boat attraction that would have been located across Beach Boulevard.

If you have any interested in Knott's Berry Farm I highly recommend this one!
