Frightening Fun: Halloween 2010 Events

It's that time of year again, well almost anyway! Halloween season 2010 is drawing near, and I can almost hear the screams already. In honor of the ever growing juggernaut that is the Halloween Season, over the next few weeks we're going to take a look at the many events taking place at Amusement Parks across the country. So... boo! Let's get started, shall we?

I can't pronounce Lake Winnepesaukah's name normally, and adding the word spook to the middle doesn't help much! Still, "Lake Winnie" as it is known will start a new Halloween Celebration this year, calling the park Lake WinnepeSPOOKah during it. Guests can look forward to haunted rides, eerie fun, and plenty of thrills during the event. Lake WinnepeSPOOKah will take place on Saturdays and Sundays during October.

Mile High Scares in the Mile High City - that's what you'll find at Elitch Gardens' annual Fright Fest. The 2010 version of the fest promises to cater to families by day, and give plenty of frights at night!

Kid-friendly Booville has plenty of Halloween fun for the kids - trick-or-treating, a monsterless, non-scary haunted house, and plenty more activities. The family fun ends when night falls - that's when the monsters come out! Fright Fest will have ghouls lurking on the midways, and haunted houses that are sure to thrill. The event starts September 25th and runs through October 31st, taking place on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Do not head to Legoland California's Brick-Or-Treat Party Nights if a scary time is what you're looking for - family fun rules as king at this event.

Legoland will present two different trick-or-treat trails, each with seven different stops along the way where kids and pick up some goodies. The park also hosts a costume contest where parents can go all out and see if their kids have the best 'look' this year.

The park also has a new live show titled Mail Order Monster which sounds full of laughs. A dance party, Lego pumpkin creating stations, and howling contests are some of the other fun offered. Brick-Or-Treat takes place on each Saturday during October.

Mt. Olympus Water & Theme Park promises "the greatest event of pure terror to ever be unleashed in the Dells" with its Haunted Night at the Park event.

Taking place weekends in October, Haunted Night features a park filled with monsters roaming freely along the midways. Wisconsin's largest Haunted House is a staple attraction, along with the hay bale maze. You can also bring your bathing suit to the Halloween event - how many parks can say that? Medusa's Indoor Waterpark is open during Haunted Nights as well.

The thought of being alone in a corn field in the dark is pretty scary, right? That's the theme of Worlds of Fun's new CornStalkers haunt - debuting this Fall at their annual Halloween Haunt.

Bigger and better than ever, including the new CornStalkers maze the park will feature 10 different haunts this year. Returning favorites like Master McCarthy's Doll Factory and Club Blood are sure to keep you up at night. Unique live entertainment such as Digger's Used Coffin Lot and Meat Cleaver High are also sure entice a scream or two.

A Scream Come True! That's a pretty funny tag-line, I don't think I've heard that one before. The Haunted Graveyard at Lake Compounce is an absolutely huge walk through attraction that features six separate Haunted Houses all connected together in one truly terrifying path.

No really, I've seen that it can take up to 45 minutes to get through the entire Haunt! Plus Lake Compounce keeps many of it's thrilling rides and attractions open during the event, and the park is dressed to the nines in Halloween garb. Possibly best of all, the entire even helps raise funds for diabetes research - so you can do good while being scared all at the same time! Haunted Graveyard starts on October 1st, and runs through the end of the month.

Cute characters in Halloween outfits can be so deceptive. When Six Flags Fiesta Texas starts its annual Fright Fest this year, the cute characters will fade as darkness rolls in on the park. After that, Mayor Slayer, the park's ghoulish mascot, takes over.

While the sun is still out the park does offer plenty for families to do. There's live shows like The Looney Tunes Halloween Dance Party and even Scooby-Doo & Friends Trick-Or-Treating.

But at night you can venture into Mayor Slayer's Midnight Mansion, which features thirteen bone chilling rooms to endure. Since Fiesta Texas is known for their entertainment offerings, the park does not disappoint during Fright Fest. Numerous haunted shows take place, like the premier Mayor Slayer's Monster Mash Bash.
