Six Flags Fiesta Texas Announces New Water Coaster + Event for 2017

Six Flags Fiesta Texas will celebrate their 25th anniversary in 2017 with the addition of a major new water park addition, Thunder Rapids.  The water coaster will be "America's first rocket blast water coaster," featuring "state-of-the-art" features and a custom designed inline raft and "new water jet propulsion technology."

Thunder Rapids, located within the theme park's White Water Bay water park, will be designed by Proslide, and will be the first RocketBLAST/FlyingSAUCER combination instillation in the U.S.  The ride will use a ground level moving station to board riders, who then head up a ride-up lift to three stories above the ground.  The ride's layout will feature 5 uphill blasts, four saucer turns, and enclosed dive turn and a total of 942 feet of slide.  The infographic above gives a nice look at Thunder Rapids' layout, along with more statistics.

In addition to Thunder Rapids, Six Flags Fiesta Texas will also host a new Mardi Gras Festival next March 24th through April 30th.  The event will feature a new 8-float parade, with authentic Mardi Gras floats created by Kern Studios.  They are world known for the amazing Mardi Gras floats they create, so this should be a neat production.  The parade will feature several floats that honor the other holidays the park celebrates, like Halloween and Christmas.  The park will hold the parade twice a day and the event will also have themed food, retail and decorations.
