Cedar Point to Retire Mean Streak After 26 Seasons

After 26 seasons of operating at Cedar Point, it has been announced that Mean Streak will gives its final rides on September 16th, 2016.  The massive wooden roller coaster opened as the tallest and fastest of its kind in the world in 1991.

The park isn't saying much about what will come of the ride's location, only that they are "making way for future development in Frontier Town."  That leaves the door pretty wide open, so we can't even be sure at this point that any 2017 changes will come from the closure.

Cedar Point released a pretty funny video announcing the ride's end, complete with a rather menacing creature hacking away at the ride - he really means business!

Mean Streak's closing day, September 16th, is also the first of the park's 2016 HalloWeekend's celebration.  To honor Mean Streak in style the park will have a funeral procession after one final hour of rides, leading from the coaster to the Dead Rides Cemetery at the front of the park.
