Colossal Curl Coming to Adventure Island in 2015

After the success of a similar attraction at Water Country U.S.A. in 2014, Tampa's Adventure Island has announced the addition of Colossal Curl in 2015.

Colossal Curl will be Adventure Island's first new attraction since 2006, which is quite a stretch in between additions.  The slide seats four riders in clover leaf shaped rafts and "delivers a high-adrenaline, action-packed adventure, making it the ultimate family thrill slide and adds to the waterpark’s unrivaled combination of corkscrews, waterfalls, high-speed thrills and tropical, tranquil surroundings for guests of all ages."

“We’re excited to continue in our tradition of offering thrilling rides, and slides, at Adventure Island and Busch Gardens Tampa,” said Park President Jim Dean.

The ride stands nearly 70 feet high and has 560 feet of slide.  A "hybrid" attraction, Colossal Curl combines a tornado funnel section with a high speed drop into a vertical wave wall.  The attraction will be located in the center of Adventure Island near Mango Joe's Cafe, and will replace the Gulf Scream slide.

Adventure Island water park is located next to Busch Gardens Tampa, and is a part of the SeaWorld  Parks & Entertainment family.
