New S&S 4-D Free Spin Opening in the U.S. in 2015

S&S Sansei Technologies, the company formed through the partnership of S&S Worldwide and Sansei Technologies in 2012, will be opening a large new coaster somewhere in the U.S. next year, and it'll be the first of its kind.

The style of the coaster is called a 4-D Free Spin, and it is similar to S&S' 4th Dimension rides, though the vehicles do not have controlled spinning, instead (and as the name would imply) the seats spin freely during the course.

This news story spilled the beans that the first of this style of ride will open next year at a park in the U.S., costing $7 million with 1,265 feet of track and a maximum speed of 38 miles per hour.  S&S is calling the ride a "high-thrill family ride," so do not expect an experience as intense as the 4th Dimension coasters.

The article also mentions an 8 passenger train, so comparisons sounds like they could be made to Intamin's line of ZacSpin rides, which also utilize free spinning seats on either side of the track.  S&S promises that their new 4-D Free Spin uses technology not found on any other coaster they are aware of.

The prototype of the 4-D Free Spin coaster has been set up at S&S' plant in Utah, which Theme Park Review checked out last January.  I'm excited to see which park is building this coaster, something tells me it could be a Six Flags park - perhaps even one currently teasing a new attraction.  Then again, the $7 million price tag could work for a mid-sized independent park - I guess we will find out soon!
