2013 Best Steel Coaster Poll Results Released!

This past week the official results of the 2013 Best Steel Coaster Poll were released, and for the second year in a row Expedition GeForce at Holiday Park is the world's best steel ride.  The New Texas Giant climbed into the number two spot, making it the best steel ride in the U.S. - quite an accomplishment for both the park and Rocky Mountain!

Intimidator 305, which has stayed near the top of the poll since it opened, finished in third place this year.  Clearly still a ride that enthusiasts love.  Bizarro at Six Flags New England has always finished in either first or second place in the 11 previous years the poll was held - but this year dropped to 4th place!  An interesting turn of events, one has to wonder what is going on with the ride that is causing it to start a descent in the rankings.  I'll be quite interested to see where it finishes in next year's poll.

Also in the top ten, both Skyrush at Hersheypark and Maverick at Cedar Point both moved up several spots - showing signs of growing popularity among fans.

New for 2013 rides had an interesting turnout in the poll.  Iron Rattler at Six Flags Fiesta Texas finished in a very respectable 10th place, but Full Throttle at Six Flags Magic Mountain came in much further down the list at 74.  Cedar Point's expansive wing coaster, GateKeeper, didn't find much of a stronghold with riders and ended up at 108.
