New Stephen King Book Based on Canobie Lake Park

Last summer when I visited Canobie Lake Park I walked away having had a great time and really enjoying the property.  It is no surprise then that seeing a story about how Stephen King's latest book is based on the park peaked my attention.

Oddly in a recent interview he mistakenly said the park is in Massachusetts, it is in New Hampshire, but it is still exciting for the park to get coverage from the new novel.  The book is called Joyland, and doesn't make it obvious what park it is based on - in fact in the story Joyland is in North Carolina.

The park reports that they had several visits from Mr. King during his research period, including photo sessions including inside the park's Mine of Lost Souls dark ride.  Joyland is a part of the Hard Case Crime series, and here's the tag description for you readers:

"Set in a small-town North Carolina amusement park in 1973, Joyland tells the story of the summer in which college student Devin Jones comes to work as a carny and confronts the legacy of a vicious murder, the fate of a dying child, and the ways both will change his life forever."

I personally love reading a good King novel every now and again, so long as I have some free time (they're not known for being brief!).  I think it's pretty cool that when I check out this one you could possibly draw comparisons to Canobie!
