Holiday World Names New Park President and CEO

It was recently announced by Holiday World and Splashin' Safari that they have appointed a new President and CEO, Matt Eckert.

Mr. Eckert will replace Dan Koch, who assumed the position after the death of his brother Will in 2010.  Dan will be headed back to Florida to return to his law firm, which he was at previously before returning to lead the park.

The new President actually has had a long history at Holiday World, having served as one of the park's two general managers from 2007 until 2012.  He briefly left the park for another position this year, but will be returning for the new leadership position.

According to the park's release, “Matt was hand-picked by my late husband, Will, to be in a leadership role at the park; I know he would be pleased with our choice,” said park vice president Lori Koch. “As president and CEO, Matt will work closely with our board to keep our family’s park flourishing.”

The park is currently working on another large expansion, which includes an entire new slide tower along with a children's ride.  Additional improvements to the park are planned as well, with some biggies said to come in the next few years.

The Koch family, which has run the park since it first opened, recently lost majority control after a lengthy court battle.  It is a bit of a thick read as far as legal stuff goes, but a write up on that can be found at this link.  Outside of personnel issues, hopefully the changes do not make too many waves and upset the park's recent streak of massive success.
