New Jersey's Six Flags Great Adventure has announced that as of September 30th, 2012, guests will no longer be able to drive through the Wild Safari.  Visitors are welcomed to take their last spin through the 350 acre animal sanctuary before that date.

The Wild Safari has provided 38 years of visitors being able to drive their own vehicles through what is called "the world's largest drive-through safari outside of Africa" by the park.  It features more than 1,200 animals from six different continents.

John Fitzgerald, the park's President, is assuring guests that all animals will remain on property and "will continue to receive first-rate care and attention."

Commenting more on the news, Mr. Fitzgerald said that "Animal preservation and education has been a cornerstone of Six Flags Great Adventure since we opened our gates in 1974.  While significant changes are on our horizon, our veterinary and animal husbandry staff will continue to provide excellent care for the more than 70 species of exotic and domestic animals that live here at Six Flags."

No further details are available yet, but the park has promised more when the entire Six Flags chain reveals their changes for 2013 on August 30th.  Stay tuned!
