Six Flags New England to Build World's Tallest Star Flyer

Six Flags New England has approached their local zoning commission to seek permission to build what will be the world's tallest Star Flyer ride.

The colossal tower ride will stand 385 feet tall, beating the current record holder, the Prater Tower at Vienna, Austria's Weiner Prater Amusement park, by a mere two feet.  Six Flags has added several Star Flyer rides to its parks over the past two seasons, but this version would be considerably larger than those rides.

The ride was not given immediate approval by the zoning commission.  They will make a visit to the park to see the site for the ride, and continue discussion next week.

The photo above is of the Prater Tower, and I chose it because it gives true perspective on just how tall the tower would be.

If approved, the ride at Six Flags New England would go up in the current location of the park's Sky Coaster, at the very North end of the theme park.

This would place the new ride in between the park's Cyclone roller coaster, river rapids ride, and the Catapult thrill ride.

The Star Flyer rides are built by the Funtime Group, and have been appearing at many rides around the globe in recent years.

The news story also mentions that Six Flags is planning another one of these rides for an undisclosed park, but Screamscape has reported that it may be Six Flags Over Texas.
